Please note that as of January 2019, I am no longer requesting or receiving ARCs and review copies. If you have written a book you think I will enjoy, by all means, suggest it to me, however, should I wish to read it I will do so having purchased my own copy, in my own time and will review it at my own discretion.
For more information on this decision, please read my post on why I am no longer requesting ARCs.
I accept review copies of books in any format at my own discretion and receive no incentive, monetary or otherwise in exchange for these reviews. The opinions expressed in these reviews are entirely my own. I source the majority of the books I review from NetGalley and Edelweiss but will review specific books upon direct request.
If I accept a book to review it will most certainly be read, reviewed and posted on my blog, however, books are read in order of their publication date (provided they were requested prior to that date) and (should they share a publication date) on a first come, first serve basis. Already published books will take a second priority to my existing list of ARCs.
I try hard to review before or around publication but due to the load of books I have to read this is not always possible, for a current statistic on time frames see my most recent State of the ARC post for the average days +/- release.
I post all my reviews on my blog, Goodreads account and back to the source of the ARC/RC. All reviews that have been requested by either an author or publisher are identified as such at the top of the review in a sentence stating the source.
All ebooks once read and reviewed are deleted from my e-reader and purchased should I wish to have my own copy.
If you want to request a review of your book, please contact me via the contact page on this site and I will endeavor to get back to you within 48 hours.
I give my honest opinion in all the book reviews I write, whether those opinions are negative or positive – if the book wasn’t for me I’ll say so and I’ll explain why.
However, I do try to keep all of my reviews as balanced as I can as every book can offer something for someone to like and at the end of the day, I can’t in good conscience slate and trash all over something someone put love and hard work into creating.
I generally prefer fantasy and sci-fi but will pick up other genres for the right story, I also prefer e-books for review purposes and if you wish to send in this format please try to send it as a Kindle-compatible file directly to my kindle email which is available upon request.
I subscribe to the Goodreads rating scale:
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – Amazing! Brilliant! Loved it! Could only nitpick the tiniest complaints in an attempt to be balanced but my heart wasn’t in it.
🌟🌟🌟🌟 – Really liked it, there were a few things I’d change, so not perfect but still really rather good. I’m buying that book.
🌟🌟🌟 – I liked it, maybe needs a fair bit of work, a polish and it won’t be for everyone but I liked it personally and would consider reading it again or reading a sequel.
🌟🌟 – Meh. It was okay. It had some redeeming qualities, a character I liked but I didn’t really connect with the book. I could take or leave reading it. Not bad, but not for me.
🌟 – Didn’t like it, again doesn’t really mean it’s bad just generally means it’s not my thing and I had a real problem with some or all of it – but that’s just me!
Thank you for reading 🙂
