I liked the unique and interesting character interactions that come out of the main plot but, honestly, I didn’t enjoy the book that much overall. Quite complex, nuanced and overly-convoluted concepts are thrown at you in quick succession, and I felt like, for me, they weren’t explained all that well.

There were some pages where I just was saying ‘wait … what?’ on every panel and other scenes where I was kind of like ‘really? This is what we’re doing?’ [like the classic miniaturised ships for bodily purposes – I never got it in any incarnation, it just feels weird].

I think my main issue is that I haven’t read a whole lot of Justice League as, when I do, I often feel out of my depth. I’d probably say this is a great, exciting read for long-term Justice League fans but newer readers should try for a more accessible book.

The art, however, was brilliant and I really liked it.

I received a copy of this book from DC Comics via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
