I found this book interesting. I listened to the Audiobook but plan on getting the paperback so I can make notes and annotate it for future reference.

It is very simplistic but personally, I feel that any book focussed on personal development or introspection that is overly complicated or convoluted will go in one ear and out of the other because being self-aware shouldn’t be complicated and making it so just turns people off.

I think the whole concept treads a precarious line in terms of completely separating your emotions and their management and your subsequent responsibility for them from yourself but the mindset alone is interesting. Since reading this I try to look at my reactions to things through a different lens and can tell what Peters means when he describes what would be ‘my chimp’ causing me to act irrationally. It sometimes makes it easier to reign my reactions in and to apologise afterwards.

I most definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their emotional intelligence and it also has great management techniques for stress, or just out of curiosity.
