Most Anticipated Fall Reads 2018 – Top Ten Tuesday #29

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl at the start of this year. This week’s prompt was ‘Books on My Fall 2018 TBR’. I have a fair few books I’m needing to tick off this fall as I am wanting to try and get my ARC pile way down (preferably gone) by the end of the year.

This is a Pride & Prejudice retelling set in Brooklyn with an Afro-Latino heroine and I can’t wait to read this new and unique take on one of my all-time favourite classics.10. Pride

by Ibi Zoiboi

At the time of this writing, this is due to be my next read so I may well be reading it right now. This is a Pride & Prejudice retelling set in Brooklyn with an Afro-Latino heroine and I can’t wait to read this new and unique take on one of my all-time favourite classics.

This is the first book in the New Age of Heroes line and tells the story of Ethan Avery, a young boy trapped inside the body of a monster and unleashed by the Government to do their dirty work. Damage is a character I have little knowledge of but this concept intrigues me.9. Damage Vol. 1: Out of Control

This is the battle between the Justice League, Darkseid & the Anti-Monitor collected in one book. I know literally nothing about this comic book event (I think) so I’m looking forward to getting the full story in one scoop since I know all involved in it are key players in the DC Universe.8. Justice League: The Darkseid War

Batman and the Justice League Manga Vol 1 by Shiori Teshirogi7. Batman & the Justice League Manga Vol. 1

by Shiori Teshirogi

The story is centred around a young boy from outside the existing DC Universe who embarks on an investigation into the deaths of his parents that eventually leads him to cross paths with the Justice League. I’m looking forward to reading about the Justice League in the Manga style.

This is the highly anticipated release from authors Becky Albertalli (Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda) & Adam Silvera (They Both Die in the End) and looks to be a very cute love story Arthur & Ben. I have read neither of these authors before but I am looking forward to this.6. What If It’s Us

This historical fantasy is set in a pre-revolution Russia which is a period of time that utterly fascinates me. It follows the story of two princesses that ascend to become the Tsarina Alexandra’s most trusted confidants and explores the world of the occult in pursuit of a male heir for the throne.5. This miniseries sounds brilliant! It is set in a world where the Joker is no longer insane and trying to compensate for his many crimes – including reconciling with his love Harley Quinn and revealing Batman for the true villain he is. When I first read this description I was like, ‘I swear that’s just what the Joker thinks anyway –‘ but then it dawned on me that could only make it more brilliant.4. Batman: White Night

I have heard many, many, many great things about Grant Morrison, and in particular his runs on Wonder Woman & Batman. Though I have never read any of this work personally, I am really looking forward to changing that since Wonder Woman is an interesting character but I’ve felt a bit bored by what I’ve read of her.3. This highly anticipated Japanese-inspired fantasy novel sounds amazing and I cannot wait to get stuck into it. Anything I say wouldn’t do it justice without the full description so go read that and see if it doesn’t sell you.2. Shadow of the Fox

This debut novel draws on ancient Indian history and Hindu mythology and, hell yeah, does that sound awesome. Assassins, soldiers & conspiracy are all said to feature in this book and I cannot wait to read it.1. The Tiger at Midnight

  1. Becky Albertalli’s writing is so fun and quirky! I highly recommend her Simon vs. the Homosapiens book! I read Leah on the Offbeat and I wasn’t feeling it much. Although, I heard great things about The Upside of Unrequited! Now I haven’t read anything by Adam Silvera but I heard that his endings are often tragic! I have still yet to read the book They Both Die at the End! What a title huh?!
