Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl at the start of this year. This week’s prompt was ‘Favourite Novellas/Short Stories’ but I haven’t really read enough of those to make a list so I thought, books that have been on my TBR for the shortest time?
10. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
I had been hearing so much about this book that I just had to read and see what was going on. I received and e-ARC not too long ago too so hopefully I’ll be getting to it soon. Hopefully.
9. Just Friends by Tiffany Pitcock
I can’t remember where I saw this one but I guess I was feeling cutesy light summer-y romance ’cause here we are. I’m pretty sure I’ll still read it eventually.
8. Pride by Ibi Zoboi
I am a sucker for a Pride and Prejudice retelling and this one just sounds too amazing, just check out the description. I know, right?! So I requested without a second thought but knew even if I wasn’t approved I’d probably buy it anyway.
7. And the Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness
The only other Ness book I’ve read is A Monster Calls and whilst it was a somewhat morbid read, it was also beautiful both in description and illustration so I was hoping this might be the Ness book I fall in love with. I know on my list is also The Rest of Us Just Live Here.
6. The Disasters by M. K. England
I first heard of this book on Norees @ No Reads Too Great Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag Post and the description, complete with space heists and rebels, sounded oh so good and right up my street and I just couldn’t not request it on Edelweiss (It got approved – yay!) but to be honest I’ll probably buy it too.
5. Girlfriend, Interrupted by Patricia Caliskan
This isn’t usually a book I would look at but I was sold on it by an author interview post I saw over at The Burgeoning Bookshelf. It sounds like a fun rom-com type story even though I’m always iffy on books with kids from an adults perspective.
4. The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang
I saw some pretty amazing comments about this book on Amy @ The Little Booknerds in the Corner’s June Wrap Up and I know we share a lot of the same opinions on books based on her reviews so I just had to add it – I was so disappointed I didn’t request it when I saw it on NetGalley way back when but – live and learn. Can’t wait to get into it now!
3. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
I saw a review for this fun, soap opera-esque novel over on Nikki @ Saturday Nite Reader’s blog and it sounded so good and also so different to what I usually read that I thought I’d give it a try since I’m trying to mix my reading patterns up a little.
2. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Yet another recommendation found in Nikki @ Saturday Nite Reader’s reviews, I had heard bits about this book and read Reid’s Maybe in Another Life beforehand but this review really sold it for me and I look forward to reading it.
1. Into the Woods by Mindful Writers Retreat Authors
This compilation of short stories, poems and other writings is said to capture all the wonder and magic of the woods. Usually, this wouldn’t appeal to me but all proceeds from this book are due to go to The Children’s Heart Foundation and I think that is a fantastic way to raise money and support a charity.
Have you read any of these books yet? What do you think of them? Don’t forget to post your Top Ten Tuesday links in the comments!
Until next time!
