Blogger Recognition Award Tag

So, I got nominated for my second ever blogger award tag – it’s so weird getting personally tagged – like I’m being accepted into this awesome bookish blogging family I didn’t even know existed until the start of this year! I am very thankful to Amy @ The Little Booknerds in the Corner who nominated me – Amy’s was one of the first blogs I followed after I joined WordPress after seeing some of her activity on Goodreads and seeing we had a lot of reading preferences in common and I love reading her thoughts on whatever she’s reading, so this means a lot!

On with the tag then …

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog √

2. Write a post to show your award √

3. Give a brief story of how your blog started √

4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers √

5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to √

6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

The Origin Story

A long time ago … in an inconsequential city far, far away … there was a teenager who liked to read … and write and who talked way too much. So she thought, “Hey, no one in my life loves books like I do – they’re sick of hearing me talk about them, what if I just write about reading? On the internet? People do that right?”. And bing bang boom, I found WordPress and started a blog named after one of my favourite quotes from the fictional love of my life, Will Herondale (I said fictional Alex, pipe down). There isn’t much else to it, I started in January of this year, though I have been receiving and reviewing ARCs since June 2017.

A Word from the Not-At-All-Wise

I feel pretty darn far from qualified to dish out advice on blogging, just coming to grips with it myself but rules are rules, ahem:

  1. Do It For You

Never lose sight of why you’re writing your blog, I personally write mine for me and for fun and so when I’m not having fun? I take a break, I haven’t had much need of this in my brief 6 months, my breaks consist of just putting off a post or review a day or two and then I’m good to go, but that’s enough for me. If you run yourself ragged writing your blog and it becomes a chore it’s a job you don’t get paid for and no one benefits – regroup, chill, get inspired, try again, or try something else – podcasting maybe?

  2. Be A Spectator As Well As A Creator

It’s easy when you start a blog to fall into the trap of just writing and promoting your blog and writing and promoting your blog and writing and so on (which I very nearly did) and missing out on the true brilliance of blogging which is the community. Blogs promote other blogs, their success is yours and vice versa – the people writing these other blogs are just like you and the things they have to say and teach you are awesome, go and read them! Comment, blog hop, make friends, discover new hobbies and things to read – I have never felt more welcome on the internet than I have since I joined the online book community, especially in terms of blogging – they want to help and support you, but you only get out what you put in.

Blogger Recognition

There are so many blogs I could tag (and I’m afraid I may be double nominating some of you, you’re so awesome) but here’s just 15 of you – I have another tag to write so those I miss will be tagged there!

  1. Angela @ Pooled Ink Reviews
  2. Hannah @ THE GIRAFFE’S LIFE
  3. Cactus Matt @ Anime Q and A – who just published what sounds like an awesome book I plan to order when I’m not broke!
  4. Aurora @ Aurora Librialis
  5. Lili @ Lili’s Blissful Pages
  6. Irina @ I drink and watch anime
  7. Keeana @ Keeana’s Korner
  8. Kelly @ Kelly’s Rambles

  11. FictionFan’s Book Reviews
  12. The Scientific Detective

  1. Your welcome for the tagging you. I didn’t know I was your first 🙈 glad you like my random rambles especially on Goodreads.

I was wondering where your blog name came from. I love it how it’s based on a quote!
