State of the ARC #1

The State of the ARC meme was created by Evelina @ AvalinahsBooks.

This is my first time participating in the State of the ARC meme and I decided to do it because I really need some motivation to beat back my pile of ARCs quicker. My list isn’t quite as big as others’ but my OCD just can’t handle it – ARCs first, books I’ve already bought next then my world will be rebalanced.

When I decided to take part at the beginning of this month I took a snip of my ‘stats’ from my ARC Tracker Spreadsheet (I dictate my life through spreadsheets – call-back to that aforementioned OCD) to give a point of comparison, so here they are:

NG 03.04.2018

As you can see, could be better, could be worse. I joined NetGalley in June 2017 so this is the accumulation of 10 months of ARC requests.

So … I may have forgotten my commitment to sign up for this meme and joined Edelweiss …

In my defense, Edelweiss is the only place I can request DC Comic Books and that’s what those 8 are. I had three books all due to release on the 19th of April but the only one I got through (the +1 in the Submitted bar) was such a drag I barely got it out in time so I’ll have the joys of playing catch up. Yay.
I had a crazy busy month, at home and at work, what with the house coming together but I really haven’t been getting my reading done when I could either so it’s no excuse, ah well.

Bloodthirsty Beasts I’ve Tamed…

One … one lonely little beast. That beast’s name was The Gloaming by Kirsty Logan and boy, she didn’t go out without a fight. See my review here.

In Next Month’s Crosshairs…

Failure is a pretty huge motivator for me so I am determined to do better in May! These are the ‘beasts’ I’m hoping to tame and have reviewed in time (or maybe just a smidge late) for their publication, with any luck whatsoever… which given this month’s performance I know sounds ambitious but, most of them are graphic novels so … here goes nothing …

Admittedly, not the running start I wanted for this meme – in fact, it was a piss poor showing if we’re being frank but in the face of adversity and all that. Another potential push for motivation is I am now only one auto-approval away from my Auto-Approval NetGalley badge! Woohoo!!

Any words of encouragement would be muchly appreciated! Anyone else got any of these on their TBR and want to Buddy Read? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!
